Hehuan Mountain Declared Taiwan’s First International Dark Sky Park全臺首座國際暗空公園就在合歡山

The International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) encourages communities around the world to protect dark sites. Recently, Hehuan Mountain on the western edge of Taroko Gorge National Park became Taiwan’s first International Dark Sky Park (IDSP). This title is one of six categories in the IDA’s awardwinning International Dark Sky Places program.

Becoming an IDSP is no light matter; applicants must meet several requirements and show that there is strong community support for dark sky protection. The long application process, which takes one to three years on average, was a four-year effort for Hehuan Mountain. Now it joins the list of 126 dark sites where people can look to the night sky and be amazed by the sight of the stars.

國際暗天協會（後皆縮寫為 IDA）鼓勵世界各地的社區團體保衛黑暗夜空的地點。太魯閣國家公園西邊的合歡山最近成為臺灣第一座國際暗空公園（縮寫為 IDSP）。這個頭銜是 IDA 獲頒獎項的國際暗天計畫中的六項分類之一。

要成為國際暗空公園並不容易；申請者必須滿足幾項要求，並表明有強大的團體背書保存黑暗夜空。申請的過程很漫長，平均需要一至三年，合歡山花了四年才通過。現在，它名列一百二十六個國際暗天地點之一，在這些地方人們可以欣賞夜空，並對看到的星星感到讚嘆。
