In July of 2019, Leonardo DiCaprio
partnered with his friends to set up a new environmental organization, Earth Alliance.
The organization aims to protect ecosystems, fight for climate justice, and
support green energy.
Then in August, Earth Alliance announced
that it gave away US$5 million to help fight the fires in the Amazon
rainforest. The funds went directly to five local partner organizations and
communities to protect the rainforest and the thousands of people and species
living in it.
