Local Trains Get a Facelift

When some people picture riding a train in Taiwan, they usually think of older trains that all appear the same and move at the same speed. The inside of these trains is very basic and isn’t very interesting to them at all.
The Taiwan Rail Administration (TRA) decided to spend NT$79 million to give some cars a makeover. The outside of these cars now look a little more serious due to splashes of black and orange. The design of the inner areas of the cars is to give passengers the idea of being in a hotel they would like to stay at.
There are also parlor cars where people are invited to sip some coffee and put their feet up to take in the wonderful views. This TRA facelift makes for a very relaxing ride on the tracks.
