In Southern China and Taiwan, noodles and
tangyuan are the preferred dishes to enjoy on Dongzhi. Tangyuan are small balls
made from sticky rice and usually filled with red bean, black sesame, peanut,
or other ingredients. They are served in a hot, sweet soup. The Taiwanese also
enjoy mutton or ginger duck hot pot on this day. In other parts of East Asia,
Dongzhi traditions vary. In Japan, people take baths with a local fruit called
yuzu added to the water.
在中國南方和臺灣，麵條及湯圓是冬至時受歡迎的食物。湯圓是由糯米做成的小圓球，通常包有紅豆、黑芝麻、花生或其他食材。它們以熱騰騰的甜湯形式供應。臺灣人也會在這天享用羊肉爐或薑母鴨火鍋。在東亞其他地方，冬至傳統各不相同。在日本，人們泡澡時會加入當地一種叫做柚子的水果。
