More recently in 2003, researchers from Japan created something like an “invisibility cloak.” It used a camera and projector to display video of the wearer’s background onto the front of the jacket. Last year, a Canadian firm introduced “Quantum Stealth.”

The technology uses a special plastic sheet made of lenticular lenses that curve outward on both sides. This bends light around objects on one side, so that when viewed from the other side of the plastic, objects are nearly undetectable.
