China’s internet watchdog has laid out regulations to curb the amount of time children spend on their smartphones, in the latest blow to firms such as Tencent and ByteDance, which run social media platforms and online games.

中國網際網路監管機構制定了限制兒童在智慧手機上花費時間的規定，這是對騰訊和字節跳動等經營社群媒體平台和線上遊戲的公司的最新打擊。

The Cyberspace Administration of China on Wednesday published the draft guidelines on its site, stating that minors would not be allowed to use most internet services on mobile devices from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and that children between the ages of 16 and 18 would only be able to use the internet for two hours a day.

週三，中國國家互聯網信息辦公室在其網站上發佈指導意見草案，稱未成年人在晚上10點至早上6點期間不得在行動裝置上使用大多數網際網路服務，16歲至18歲的兒童每天只能上網2小時。

Children between the ages of 8 and 15 would be allowed only an hour a day, while those under 8 would only be allowed 40 minutes.

8歲至15歲的兒童每天只允許1小時，8歲以下的兒童只允許40分鐘。

Only certain services, such as apps or platforms that are deemed suitable to the physical and mental development of minors, will be exempted. The CAC did not specify which internet services would be allowed exemptions. (AP)

Scientists described fossils of an early whale unearthed in Peru called Perucetus colossus that lived about 38-40 million years ago during the Eocene epoch - a creature built somewhat like a manatee that may have topped the mass of the blue whale, long considered the heftiest animal on record.

科學家描述秘魯出土、生活約於3800萬至4000萬年前始新世時期的早期鯨魚「巨像秘魯鯨」的化石——這個體型有點像海牛的生物，重量或許超越被認為有紀錄以來最重的動物藍鯨。

The researchers estimated that Perucetus was about 20 meters long and weighed up to 340 metric tons, a mass that would exceed any other known animal including today’s blue whale and the largest dinosaurs.

研究人員推估秘魯巨鯨長約20公尺、重達340公噸，重量將超越任何其他已知動物，包括今天的藍鯨以及最大的恐龍。

"The main feature of this animal is certainly the extreme weight, which suggests that evolution can generate organisms that have characteristics that go beyond our imagination," said paleontologist Giovanni Bianucci of the University of Pisa in Italy.

【摘要2023.8.6.壹蘋】過去2屆世大運因排名不夠前面而錯過，許育修在24歲這年迎接首次世大運，並拿下近10年台灣網球男雙首金，許育修表示，參加世大運的心情很不同，「因為我是代表台灣爭取金牌」。

曾拿下多座世界職業網球協會（ATP）挑戰賽男雙冠軍的許育修，因2017年台北世大運那年才18歲，台灣隊陣中好手雲集，無緣參賽，2019年世大運又因為縮編只取2名，排名第3的他，再次被拒於門外，直到本屆賽會才迎來世大運首秀。

許育修這次男雙與學弟黃琮豪合作，混雙與國立體大同學吳芳嫺並肩作戰，都先後闖進金牌戰，而男雙更是為台灣奪得近10年來世大運首金，許育修受訪表示：「知道台灣雙打一直以來都滿厲害的，這次想按照原本習慣，調整好狀態，就順順地去打。」

首次綜合性運動賽會的經驗，讓許育修備感新鮮，「很難得可以跟各國不同的選手住在同一個地區，走到哪都可以遇到各式各樣的運動員」。不過，不同於一般職業賽，許育修認為，世大運不只是個人比賽，「我是代表台灣爭取金牌」。

這面金牌對於許育修而言，更是別具意義，他說：「不只是給我自己，也是獻給所有台灣人。」在男雙金牌入袋後，面對明天混雙決賽，許育修同樣有信心，他認為，只要實力正常發揮，打出屬於自身的球風，有機會再拿下1面金牌。

李智凱原本決賽難度分原本只拿到6.4，經由申訴之後確認是6.5套路，執行分9.000分，以15.500分躍居領先位置，並一路領先到最後，成功將這面金牌帶走。

Villagers in this renowned UNESCO World Heritage site came together to re-thatch the roof of a multitiered house here for the first time in five years on May 13.

（日本岐阜縣）知名的聯合國教科文組織世界遺產的白川鄉的村民，5月13日在暌違5年後首度一同為（村內的）1幢多層屋的屋頂換茅草。

The traditional re-thatching of the roof of a “gassho-zukuri” structure was undertaken by a mutual assistance group formed by local residents called “Yui,” which has helped preserve the settlement and plays a vital role in the re-thatching of roofs.

「合掌造」結構的傳統的屋頂換草工程，是由被稱為「結」、由當地居民組成的1個互助團體來執行，該團體協助保護該聚落，以及在屋頂換草上扮演重要角色。

Around 150 villagers of Shirakawa-go threw themselves into the effort.

According to the Shirakawa village board of education, this was the first re-thatching in Shirakawa-go in five years.

A zoo in eastern China is denying suggestions some of its bears might be people in costumes after photos of the animals standing like humans circulated online.

動物像人類一樣站立的照片在網上流傳後，中國東部一間動物園否認了它有些熊可能是人穿著戲服的說法。

The sun bears from Malaysia are smaller than other bears and look different but are the real thing, the Hangzhou Zoo said Monday on its social media account.

杭州動物園週一在其社群媒體帳號上表示，來自馬來西亞的馬來熊比其他熊小隻，看起來也不一樣，但牠們是真的。

Internet users questioned whether the zoo’s bears were real after photos circulated showing one standing upright on slender hind legs.

流傳的照片有一張顯示一隻熊用細長的後腿站直，網友質疑這間動物園裡的熊是否為真。

Sun bears are the size of large dogs, standing at most 1.3 meters tall on their hind legs, compared with up to 2.8 meters for grizzlies and other species, according to the zoo.

【摘要2023.8.5.六.壹蘋】台灣田徑好手彭名揚，今晚在成都世大運男子400公尺跨欄決賽，以48秒62打破全國紀錄，勇奪金牌，也是本屆世大運台灣第3金。

彭名揚決賽排在第5道起跑，他不但打破高懸22年的全國紀錄，還達到奧林匹克運動會參賽標準48秒70，順利取得明年巴黎奧運的門票。

彭名揚昨晚在世大運準決賽以48秒97創下個人最佳紀錄，也成為陳天文、陳傑後，第3位跑進49秒內的台灣選手，而今天的決賽彭名揚更狂，直接將全國紀錄推到48秒62的高水準。

世大運男子200蝶王冠閎奪銀　中華隊第2面游泳獎牌【摘要2023.8.5.六.壹蘋】王冠閎今在世大運男子200公尺蝶式決賽游得精采，可惜以0.03秒與金牌擦身而過，不過仍奪下銀牌，這是中華隊本屆世大運第2面游泳獎牌。

「台灣蝶王」王冠閎在昨日男子200公尺蝶式預賽游出1分59秒，排名第6，準決賽再游出更好的1分56秒76，排名第3。

王冠閎今日決賽游出此次世大運個人最好的1分55秒69，只可惜慢了奪金的日本選手寺田拓未0.03秒，不過王冠閎還是奪下生涯首面世大運游泳獎牌，也是繼王星皓200公尺混合式銀牌後，中華隊第2位在本屆世大運奪牌的泳將。

21歲的王冠閎是我國100蝶、200蝶的全國紀錄保持人，今年全大運游出1分55秒42，達到巴黎奧運參賽A標1分55秒78，成為國內第一位獲得巴黎奧運門票的泳將，目前200蝶全國紀錄是由他在前年東京奧運預賽游出的1分54秒44。
