Feline-friendly Osaka Mayor Ichiro Matsui hopes to make the 2025 Osaka Kansai Expo the first one to allow pets, but a number of hurdles stand in the way.

The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, the expo’s organizer, is making adjustments to allow people to enjoy the expo, whose theme is “inochi” (life), with their pets.

「2025年日本世界博覽會協會」的主辦單位正在進行調整，好讓民眾能與其寵物一起享受這場以いのち（生命）為主題的世博會。

However, challenges are piling up, such as how to take care of people with fur allergies, how to handle the pets’ waste, and how to secure the extra funding needed.

然而，挑戰層出不窮，像是如何照顧對動物的毛過敏的人、如何處理寵物的排泄物，以及如何確保取得所需的額外資金。

Allowing pets at the venue would require an estimated 900 million yen in additional expenses to cover costs for personnel, places for the animals and cleanup work.

A giant meatball made from flesh cultivated using the DNA of an extinct mammoth was unveiled at Nemo, a science museum in the Netherlands.

一顆用滅絕猛瑪象的去氧核糖核酸（DNA）培養出的肉製成的巨大肉丸，在荷蘭科學博物館「Nemo」展出。

The meatball was created by Australian cultured meat company Vow which said it wanted to get people talking about cultured meat, calling it a more sustainable alternative for real meat.

這顆肉丸是由澳洲人造肉公司Vow創造的，該公司說，希望讓人們談論人造肉，還說這是更永續的真肉替代品。

The meatball was made of sheep cells inserted with a singular mammoth gene called myoglobin. "When it comes to meat, myoglobin is responsible for the aroma, the colour and the taste", James Ryall, Vow’s Chief Scientific Officer explained.

【摘要2023.4.16.日.自由 楊國德】關切世界局勢的人，會發現最近最夯的一項人工智慧發展，就是聊天機器人ChatGPT，相信對我們的生活將會產生深遠的影響。尤其對很多不參與終身學習的人，未來碰到被詐騙、被誤導、被淘汰的機會、以及造成生活困頓的情形必定會有增無減。所以，個人及政府要重視終身學習的急迫性，全民終身學習真的不能等了。

俗稱：道高一尺，魔高一丈。我們常笑說：真正實踐終身學習的典範，詐騙集團份子就在其中。他們會引用最新進的方式與工具，運用多元多樣的題材與內容，不厭其煩地陪伴你、指導你、讓你身歷其境，最終使你體驗身陷泥澇而難以自拔的險境。那麼聊天機器人ChatGPT的發展，對詐騙集團無疑是多一項工具及手法，而且他們會勤學的快狠準，只因為回報率甚高。

就ChatGPT的原理來看，有心人士可以將蒐集的一點點個資，透過餵養、生成、訓練而創新詐騙的資料與劇本，得手的機會將大增。加上一項情境，那就更令人擔憂，根據警政署防詐騙的數據，其中是六十歲以上的國人被詐騙的比率最高。

中老年人的相關資料散佈在網路的份量一定較多，機器人去撈選有關資訊不虞匱乏；同時這群人則因退休等種種因素，自恃學經歷豐富，不再那麼主動學習與時俱進，所以受害的可能性不少。當退休金或一生積累的老本，一夕化為烏有，對個人及家庭是多大的傷害。

就年輕族群來說，聊天機器人對他們的挑戰就更多了，除要避免被詐騙、被誤導，還要嚴肅地面對被淘汰的處境。雖然正規教育那麼完整，但是大專畢業後的工作環境才是磨練的開始，不僅工作可能被取代了，更多的需求是你要如何超越機器人的表現，或是至少要學會如何運用機器人幫你完成任務。

由此可見，畢業真正是另一個階段的開始，也就是終身學習的起跑點。唯有如此，一生才可能不斷接受挑戰，而不被淘汰；這種情況，不僅鼓勵我們要活到老而學到老，更是在告誡我們學到老才能活到老。其實，上述的發展給我們很多重要的啟示。

首先，最重要的就是一定要全民終身學習，一個都不能少，隨時隨地為生活而學習。人不學不知道傳頌那麼久，就是在告誡我們：以前是人之異於禽獸者幾希，當前是人之異於機器也幾希。

當機器人一直再學習且進步神速，不管是個人還是整體人類社會，必定要有危機意識，絕不容許從人造了機器，變成機器控制了人。以前有廣告詞描述照相機，就說：它傻瓜，你聰明，現在的情況是機器人越來越聰明，我們必須制敵機先，累積更多智慧能量，好好用它而不至於為它很甩到一邊。

其次，人不終身學習，不知應變之道，切勿不學而無此術。ChatGPT能解決問題，靠的是不斷發展的資料庫，然後經由持續創新生成及訓練而來。若我們願意終身學習，就可以不斷累積運用機器人的方法及策略，我們踏踏實實是它的主人而不會是奴隸，也就是前面所提的我們要學會善用他的能力。

人類從工業革命以來，面對多少的挑戰與機會，最後能從過去走到現在，依靠的就是教育與學習，發展更多的潛能，展現無限的創意創新。從現在邁向未來，無疑地就有賴全民終身學習，以更強的力度因應這世紀大變局。

我們一定要謹記在心，全民都要終身學習，以免奮鬥一輩子，卻毀於一下子。同時，也冀望教育部積極推動終身教育政策。

Thieves may not have been counting on finding a mountain of change when they broke into a truck filled with $750,000 in dimes, but they still made off with a chunk of the cargo and left coins scattered around a Philadelphia parking lot, authorities said.

A pilot in South Africa made a hasty emergency landing after discovering a highly venomous cobra hiding under his seat.

Rudolf Erasmus had four passengers on board the light aircraft during Monday’s flight when he felt “something cold” slide across his lower back. He glanced down to see the head of a fairly large Cape Cobra “receding back under the seat,” he said.
